Point Reyes Christmas Bird Count

Saturday, December 14 (times TBD) —Join the Point Reyes Christmas Bird Count covering West Marin including Tomales Bay and the Point Reyes National Seashore. Dinner afterwards at the Dance Palace.

WHAT IS THE CHRISTMAS BIRD COUNT?

Each year in late December or early January, thousands of volunteers around the world disperse to local bird “count circles” to count all the birds they observe throughout the day. The tradition of the Christmas Bird Count, which began in 1900, brings together birders and conservationists in one of the longest-running citizen science projects in the United States. To date the Audubon Christmas Bird Count is in it’s 125th year!

The 2024 Point Reyes Christmas Bird Count is on Saturday, December 14th 2024, and we will be doing the compilation dinner at the Dance Palace again!
